This is basically a brand new guitar that was gifted to an older gentleman who lost interest in playing it.
Breedlove is another of those companies that began making high-end guitars in the U.S. (Oregon) and then shipped their designs to the Pacific Rim to take advantage of state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and, of course, cheap labor. The resulting guitars show exceptional workmanship and playability as well as top sound quality.
The OM/000 model is a very useful size that has nearly the air volume of a dreadnought but is more convenient to play, especially seated.
This is a solid top guitar with a quality gloss finish as good as you’ll find anywhere. The binding and joinery are also top notch. There are a couple of very minor dings…one shown and the other too small to photograph. There is normal handling wear you’d expect in a even a very nice used guitar.
It is a pure acoustic with no cutouts for electronic equipment.
I did a full setup to lower the action to the practical minimum for this kind of guitar. The neck is straight and true and all notes play clean and clear with not buzzes, doubles, or “wolf notes” anywhere on the fretboard. The new strings are phosphor bronze 12s, which were installed with a new natural bone saddle. Otherwise, the guitar is factory original.
The original Breedlove sealed tuning machines work perfectly and the guitar stays in tune very well…not surprising, since it’s never been sold at retail and seems to have never been played.
