Caregiver Position – Rewarding Work & Hands-On Medical Experience

About Me
My name is Glenn. I am a 53-year-old man who uses a power wheelchair due to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I live a very positive, active life and require caregivers to support my independence and daily routines. I have had caregivers for over 25 years and have a well-organized system that makes training smooth and stress-free.
I am specifically looking for a caregiver who can reliably work:
• Monday–Friday 7:30am–3:30pm (40 hrs/week)
• Plus/or every other weekend: Saturday & Sunday 7:30am–9:30pm (28 hrs/every other week)
Job Environment
This is a low-stress job in a pleasant environment.
My home is equipped with a ceiling track lift and divided-leg U-sling for safe, straightforward transfers. I use:
A condom catheter with a leg bag during the day
A BiPAP machine at night
I happily train caregivers in all care tasks.
I also enjoy 3D printing and laser engraving, and might need help with occasional simple tasks—fun hobbies to be part of.
Daily Responsibilities
Most hands-on tasks occur in the morning and evening.
During the day, tasks are lighter.
Typical responsibilities include:
Assisting with getting in and out of bed
Toileting assistance
Dressing and undressing
Showering
Meal preparation
Light cleaning
Laundry
Errands
Accompanying me when going out
Putting me to bed at the end of the shift
Daytime tasks may include laundry as needed, basic safety assistance, meal prep, and water refills.
A lunch break of 1–2 hours is allowed during 14-hour shifts.
Weekly Activities
Wednesday evenings: Men’s Group at my local church (caregiver may wait in the lobby or van).
Sundays: 11am church service.
Sunday evenings: Social outing and visiting parents.
Other outings: Groceries, appointments, or dinner.
I have a 2017 Toyota Sienna with an in-floor wheelchair ramp, which you will drive.
Requirements
Valid Driver’s License; must be 21 or older
CPR and Basic First Aid certification
Positive, helpful attitude
Strong work ethic and reliability
Clean background check
Ability to register with a caregiving agency (Lima Nursing Care)
Positive work references
Compensation
Current Pay Rate:
$16.00 – $18.00 per hour
Location: Davidsonville, MD
Rates may improve in the future as state policies change.
