AGE: This pair of lamp shades comes from about the 1940s.
DESCRIPTION: They are of a strong textured paper product with part of the wings cut and angled in for illumination as well as pin holes pushed through from the underside in the body of the butterflies for the same purpose and giving a 3-D appearance (see photo of inside of shade). The butterflies are painted (watercolor) and the artist left the initials PWM. The tops and bottoms are edged with pinkish grosgrain and velvet ribbons.
SIZE: The top diameter is 5 inches and the bottom diameter is 10 inches. They are 6 1/2 inches tall.
CONDITION: There is minor age spotting mostly confined to the ribbons.
