1992 Jeep YJ Wrangler with the 2.5L 4 cylinder. $3100. Extra super firm. I am not moving on price.
Clean title in my name. Address on the title matches where I live and what's on my driver's license. More than happy to show both to you in-person.
She's old, but works great. The frame is not rusty. (Honestly it's the only one I could find that didn't have either holes in the frame or a really poorly welded repair. She came out of WV where they use cinders instead of salt on the roads in the winter.) Passed Maryland safety inspection when I moved here in 2022. She's been my daily driver since I bought her but I moved up to an even-older pickup truck (with air conditioning) that can tow my boat.
The only thing I know of that's wrong with it is the tripmeter doesn't work. She makes a lot of noise and rattles etc but nothing unexpected from a 33 year old American car. Occasionally you have to pump the clutch twice to put her in reverse (Chrysler changed the clutch slave cylinder design in 94 for that reason). The headlights pictured are NOT included (swapping them with the ones on my new truck) unless you want to give me another $800. (They're JW Speaker 8900s. I assure you they're fantastic and worth every penny.)
Work since I bought it with 155,000 ish miles 4 years ago:
- New clutch and rear main seal (approx. 40,000 miles ago).
- New BestTop Supertop and doors in 2024 (cost me $1600 direct from BestTop).
- Heavy duty leaf springs in the rear (three months ago, just HD in preparation for a hard top, no lift).
- New fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter.
- New timing chain.
- Replaced oil pan gasket.
- Replaced oil pump with Melling (potentially too much oil pressure now, like 60 psi, but she seems ok with it. I even put a mechanical gauge on and the dashboard gauge is accurate.)
- Replaced alternator (last month).
- Replaced radiator, water pump (twice), thermostat, all hoses.
- Tires are from 2023 (including spare). They're meh.
- Replaced power steering pump in 2022.
- New windshield 2025. (Old one wasn't broken, just had so many chips that you could barely see out of it. Repainted the windshield frame with 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of red so it wont rust ever again either).
- I went on a quest to get it to stop raining inside. New seal between windshield and body. Slathered sealant at the top of the firewall (doesn't look great but it works), sealed cowl vent plastic where it cracks. Still gets a little wet inside but probably better than most Jeeps of this vintage.
- Changed the oil with Mobil 1 every 3000 miles ish.
- Cleaned vents in top of valve cover.
- Replaced transmission gear oil with Red Line MT90, differential oil (and bought the rubber reusable seals so it makes your life easier the next time), and transfer case oil.
- Replaced U-joints in rear driveshaft.
- New exhaust.
- New battery in 2024.
- New air filter (probably time for a new one).
- Added class III hitch.
- Slathered frame and everything underneath with Woolwax every year so she would stay not-rusty.
- Probably some other stuff I forgot about.
I have the backseat, I put that big toolbox in there so I could lock things. Will include backseat with sale.
Sold as-is, no warranty expressed or implied, but I would feel confident driving her to California tomorrow. I drive to Arlington, VA pretty frequently so could probably meet you there if you wanted to take a look at her. I'm ok with cash or cashier's check so long as we meet in person at your bank, or using an escrow service like Keysavvy (I used that to buy a car this spring, loved it, they'll even send you a good temp tag.)
